Q1. Why have ING Vysya Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank merged?
ING Vysya Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank have complementary branch networks, products and client segments. ING Vysya Bank has a stronger presence in South India while Kotak has an extended franchise in the West and North India. The merger will create a large financial institution with a vast national footprint. Together, the new entity will have over 1,200 branches and 1,900 ATMs across the country and will be India’s 4th largest private sector bank.
Q2. What should I know about Kotak Mahindra Bank?
Kotak Mahindra Bank is a one stop shop for all your financial needs be it deposits, loans or investments. It has customized offerings for both individual and corporate customers. It offers transaction banking, operates lending verticals, manages IPOs and provides working capital loans. Kotak has one of the largest and most respected Wealth Management teams in India, providing the widest range of solutions to high net worth individuals, entrepreneurs, business families and employed professionals. Q3. Will ING Vysya Bank change its name to Kotak Mahindra Bank?
Yes. With effect from April 1st, 2015 ING Vysya Bank’s name will change to Kotak Mahindra Bank. To help manage the transition from ING Vysya Bank to Kotak Mahindra Bank, our branches and ATM signage will be changed to “ING Vysya Bank is now Kotak Mahindra Bank” till complete integration of systems and processes takes place.
Q4. When is the integration expected to be complete?
Integration of the two banks will be done in phases and is expected to take between 6-12 months. We will keep you updated on the integration status and how it may impact your banking experience.
Q5. How does this merger impact me as a customer now?
You now earn up to 6% p.a. interest on your savings account balance. You also have access to a wider network of ATMs (1,900+ across the country). These changes are w.e.f. April 1st, 2015. There is no change in the terms and conditions, service offerings and charges of your existing accounts / products.
Q6. What happens to ING Vysya Bank employees?
Employees of ING Vysya Bank will become employees of Kotak Mahindra Bank.
Q7. Will my account number change?
Your account number will remain the same and you can continue using it. In case of any change, we will inform you well in advance and assist you with the transition.
Q8. What will happen to the existing branches? Will branch working hours change?
There is no change in existing branches and branch working hours. In case of any change, we will inform you well in advance.
Q9. Will the ATM locations change?
There is no change in existing ATM locations. You can view the complete ATM list here. In case of any changes, this list will be updated on the website.
Q10. Will the ATM transactions be free of charge across all your ATMs?
You now have access to the combined network of erstwhile ING Vysya Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank ATMs. The number of free transactions will be as per your bank account features and yes, up to that limit, all transactions on the combined network will be free. Next time you need to use an ATM, look for the signage of ‘Kotak Mahindra Bank’ or ‘ING Vysya Bank is now Kotak Mahindra Bank’ on ATMs.
Q11. Can I do all transactions across all your ATMs?
As of now, you can enjoy the combined ATM network for cash withdrawal and balance enquiry transactions. Other services such as PIN change, account transfer, mobile top up etc. are limited to the “home network” ATMs i.e. ATMs with the signage “ING Vysya Bank is now Kotak Mahindra Bank”
Q12. Will my existing debit/credit card continue to function in ATMs or while shopping physically/online?
Yes, you can continue using your existing debit / credit card with the same PIN. When paying for shopping online, please select the “ING Vysya Bank (now Kotak)” option..
Q13. Will the Call Centre toll free number remain the same?
Yes, the Call Centre number will remain 1800 425 9900. Your TPIN will also remain the same.
Q14. Can I continue to use my existing cheque books? Will my postdated cheques be honoured?
Yes, you can continue using your cheque books and your cheques will continue to be accepted. Even post-dated cheques issued by you shall be honoured, if presented within the validity period of 3 months.
Q15. What happens to my ECS / Standing instructions?
All ECS / Standing instructions provided by you will continue to be honoured. The ECS debit / credit mandates submitted by you to various utility providers / banks/ NBFCs / brokers / insurance companies / Mutual Funds / charity organizations/ corporates for interest – dividend credit will continue to be honoured.
Q16. Will my RTGS / NEFT Code (IFSC Code) change? Do I need to inform others?
Presently, there is no change in RTGS / NEFT Code. In case of any change, we will inform you well in advance and assist you.
Q17. Will I be able to continue accessing my Internet Banking and Mobile Banking?
Yes, you can continue accessing your Internet and Mobile Banking with the same user ID and password that you have been using. The banner on the website has changed to “ING Vysya Bank is now Kotak Mahindra Bank”. Apart from that, there is no change in the features and services offered.
Q18. Will there be a change in the charges / fee structure for the services offered?
There is no change in the fee structure / charges for any of the services that you have signed up for. All charges will continue to remain the same as per the existing Schedule of Charges. In case of any change, we will inform you well in advance.
Q19. Will there be a change in the features offered and terms and conditions in my existing account?
There will be no change in the features offered or terms and conditions in your existing account. In case of any change, we will inform you well in advance.
Q20. Will there be a change in the way I receive alerts and communication from the bank today?
There will be no change in the format of the alerts and communication received. However, with effect from April 1st, 2015:
SMS alerts will be sent from SMS ID “KOTAKB” instead of “INGVYS”
Email alerts will be sent from the e-mail domain “email@example.com”
For your convenience, we request you to note the above and add them to your contact / safe sender list. This will ensure that all important messages from the bank reach you.
Q21. Where can I learn about the services and products offered by the merged entity?

Q22. What happens to my Fixed Deposits? Will I continue to earn the same rate of interest?
There will be no change in the interest rate, interest pay out frequency and charges for premature withdrawal of your existing Fixed Deposits / Recurring Deposits till maturity of the said deposit. Renewal /auto-renewal of existing deposits will be as per the revised interest rates, terms and conditions applicable on the renewal date.
In case you hold Fixed Deposits / Recurring Deposits with both ING Vysya Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank, you can continue the same. However, you will need to submit separate TDS exemption - Form 15 G/H to your respective branches where the deposits are held.
Q23. Will my Demat and Trading account continue?
You can continue buying and selling of securities from your existing Demat account. There is no change in your Depository Participant ID. You can also continue using the existing Delivery Instruction Booklets in case of offline transactions and existing trading platform in case of online trading accounts. In case you hold Demat accounts with both entities you can continue operating them.
Q24. What happens to my Investment Account / mutual funds/ insurance?
There is no change in your mutual funds investments and insurance. You can continue to manage / invest / redeem your investments through your existing branch or through Net Banking / Phone Banking channels.
Q25. Will my SWIFT Code change? Do my Trade and Forex services continue?
Your AD codes, SWIFT Codes and Nostro Accounts remain unchanged. You can continue receiving your Trade related credits in your existing account. You can also continue using EEFC / RFC account.
Q26. What happens to loans taken with you? Is there a revision in interest rates?
The existing terms of offer will continue including the rate of interest. There is no change in your loan repayment schedule. Any revision in the terms of offer will be communicated well in advance.
Q27. I have a locker with your branch. Will the service continue?
Yes, your locker services will continue.
Q28. Can I deposit my cheque in any Kotak / ING Vysya branch or ATM?
Please deposit your cheques at your existing home branch or at an “ING Vysya Bank is now Kotak Mahindra Bank” branch.
